This season the U9's participated in the newly formed Cricket Festivals format (6 a side) which replaced the standard league table structure. Our squad performed fantastically throughout the season and it was great to see each player step up and contribute in various games, as other commitments meant we had to shuffle our player pack quite a bit.

The team was excellently lead by William Spencer-Wortley (Captain) and Rory O'Connor (Vice-Captain) who provided batting and bowling threats in every match they played in. The rest of the squad all manged to contribute with runs and wickets at various stages, and I was so pleased to see them start to work well as a team, particularly in how positive they were with each other. The U9's certainly know how to entertain, whether it be through wonderful power hitting, fierce bowling, or simply by the art of 'risky running', it's never boring.

By the end of the season we had won 6 of the 8 matches, some by very large margins, so the players should feel very proud of the effort they put in and for those who move up to the next age group, I wish them well! Another positive was seeing several players progressing and playing up age groups into the U11's and even U12's.

For the 2025 season we will almost have to start again as the vast majority of the squad has moved up to the U10's, so wish us luck!
