The NDCC Academy teams showed great progress during 2024, after experiencing a chastening reintroduction the previous year.

The U19s only lost one match, away to a very strong Bideford side, and the U17s progressed to the Devon Finals Day where we came up short against Ipplepen in the semi final.

Individual highlights were provided with the bat by Ed W who scored two unbeaten half centuries in consecutive days, and Navindu V who won the Batting Award.

With the ball, Noah T turned the match away to Holsworthy with 4 for 5, and in two games against Braunton Dylan E bowled devastating spells to finish with 4 for 7 off 4 overs.

However, the best contribution in a single match went to Jools H at home to Bideford who took 4 for 5 and then clubbed 53no.

Both teams were superbly captained by Oscar M, who contributed with both bat and ball, and captained with a maturity which he should take into his new role as 2nd Team Vice Captain.

It has been a great privilege to have been able to coach this group over the past two years, I only hope they continue to grow, both as cricketers and as people, and I am certain that they will achieve great success.
