N.D. Tarka Ladies U15 team beat Charlbury in the semi finals of the Lady Taverner’s 8 a side National Hardball competition. Carmen Clements scored another magnificent 101 not out with Daisy Meadowcroft (23) and Eluned Davies (41) playing great supporting roles. This left Charlbury chasing 193. They set off with great spirit staying with the run rate until the 6th over. Tarka took the pace off the ball and with that the run rate and wickets soon fell. Daisy Meadowcroft was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 8 off 3.1 overs.

Coach  Mark Overton and Manager Jan Witheridge said that the girls deserved all the success they have achieved. They have worked hard and been focused on this competition since they were U13’s. Many thanks are due to their clubs, where they play for their boys and men’s teams have supported the Tarka girls and Ladies teams wholeheartedly. Credit too must go to the North Devon District and Devon coaching set up and County age group programme which have led to the girls playing such a great standard of cricket.

The  girls are now due to travel to Lincolnshire at the end of July for the National Finals. The competition started with 168 teams spread across four regions and the winner of each region attends the National Finals.
