Bi-Centennial End of Season do

Dear all,

As you may have guessed by now (!) 2023 marks the 200th anniversary for North Devon Cricket Club. It’s been a tough year for the 1st and 2nd Devon League teams, but we’ve already had quite a few special and very memorable matches to mark the bi-centenary and there’s still one more to come! Just to note that there are only a handfull of Bi-Centenary Caps and Widebrims left, once they are gone, they are gone!

The culmination of our Bi-Centennial celebrations is going to be held on the 9th September and we hope to involve as many members of North Devon Cricket Club as possible, both past and present.

I have decided to make the colts section a huge part of the day and will use the day to also hold our end of season awards. The day will start with a parents and kids match starting at 11am. I’m still working out the finer details of the format for the game, but I need 11 children to play with their parent or grandparent for an 11 over a side game. Please can anyone who is interested message me their details directly.

Following on from the game will be the colts end of season awards – there will be a presentation for each age from All Stars through to U19’s with medals and / or trophies presented to each age group.

The second (and most eagerly anticipated) event of the day is a legends cricket match involving teams picked by former first team captains Matt Dart and Frank Biederman. There’s a real possibility of some high class cricket, but failing that the match will definitely be fun!! It will be a pleasure to watch all the ex-players show the younger ones how to stop everything in the field, chase a ball to the boundary like Usain Bolt, bowl economically, take every catch and play with a perfectly straight bat, whilst scoring at 15 an over all whilst smoking a pipe.

The defibrillator has been checked, just in case there’s been too much running.

The day will also feature a large raffle, Prosecco and Cream Tea, a Hog Roast and music til late from local DJ Two Scoops. We will also delay the final Double Nelson draw until the event, to give as many people as possible the chance to win the attendance draw.

We need you to buy tickets for the day. You can buy them at https://ndcc.org.uk/product/bicentennial-do/. There are a limited number of tickets available, book now to avoid disappointment.

We desperately need donations for the raffle, please contact me if you would like to contribute.

This is such a momentous occasion for North Devon Cricket Club, please support it in any way that you can

🙏🏻

Thanks

Simon, Dave and the Committee
