I am relishing the opportunity to captain the side in the coming season. With this being my third stint as club captain, I understand the responsibility and challenges involved but will relish the rewards that come with it. It really is a privilege to be in charge of a quality team that’s part of a fantastic club in undoubtedly the best surroundings Devon cricket has
2017 Captain, Ed Yeo did a sterling job last year and I’m hoping he will again play a major part in the season with his very destructive style of batting. Tom Popham has stepped up to Vice Captain which is testament to his popularity around the unit, understanding of the game and reward for an excellent debut season for North Devon last year. I’ve no doubt he will look to build on an already impressive record at the top of the order for us.
With an excellent mixture of youth and experience at my disposal, I’m really hopeful we can compete at the business end of the league. Both the batting and bowling units look very strong and I expect to see match winning contributions throughout the season from some very talented individuals.
I will be working closely with Richard Screech (Second team skipper) as with this year being an all through league our 2nd team players will be involved in some very competitive matches against other clubs 1st teams. The longer term goal will be to move that side up the divisions to show the strength in depth we possess at our club.
I really want to play an exciting brand of attacking cricket that will be entertaining to play and also watch. I look forward to seeing you all at some point throughout the season.
